Como esperado, fevereiro é o mês em que são anunciados os filmes indicados ao prêmio do mundo cinematográfico mais esperado do ano. A apresentação deste ano ficou a cargo do ator e escritor Leslie Jordan e a atriz e comediante Tracee Ellis Ross.

A transmissão foi feita online pelo canal oficial do Oscar no Youtube. O anúncio dos nomes ainda contou com a participação de equipes da área de saúde e dos bombeiros, como forma de homenagear os profissionais.
